About Our Blood Products

The Pet Blood Bank, Inc. provides the highest quality canine blood products in the world. Donors are given a full blood typing and health screen. Each donor is tested for Leshmania donvanii, Ehrlichia canis, Babesia canis, and Babesia gibsoni. Additionally, each individual unit collected is tested for the presence of Dirofilaria immitis (Heartworm), Ehrlichia canis and Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme). Universal donors are negative for DEA 1.1, 1.2, 3, and 5. All of our products are collected and processed in completely closed blood collection systems which prevent possible contamination through contact with air or the environment.

Packed Red Cells (RBC’s)

Packed red cells (RBC’s) processed from 450mL of fresh whole blood. Stored on CPDA-1 and Optisol®.
Product must be shipped and stored refrigerated. Shelf life of 42 days. 250ml/unit.

Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP)

Fresh Frozen Plasma processed from 450mL of fresh whole blood within 6 hours of collection. Product must be shipped and stored frozen. Shelf life of one year (after one year, may be re-labelled as “Frozen Plasma” and storged for an additional four years). 210ml/unit.
